You can choose your hard
I saw this quote from Brianna Wiest on Instagram today and immediately my shoulders relaxed, my jaw un-tensed, and I took a deep sign of relief… so I wanted to share it with you.
I’m currently in the THICK of packing-for-an-international-move-H-E-double hockey sticks.
We’ve got spreadsheets, ‘TAKE', ‘LEAVE’, and ‘MAYBE IF THERE IS ROOM’ piles, 9 suitcases, 3 bins…
In these moments of stress and overwhelm, I’ve said to myself, “Why are we doing this?!?” “I can’t do this!” and “This is too hard!”
But this post from Brianna reminds me that building an intentional life - a life that ignites my soul and grounds me in peace at the same time - is fucking hard!!
But this is a hard I choose.
What hard are you choosing?
‘It’s hard to stay at a job you hate, and it is hard to pursue your dreams.
It is hard to be at war with yourself, and it is hard to heal.
It’s hard to resist your impulses, and it is hard to be controlled by them.
It is hard to stay as you are, and it is hard to be vulnerable, to risk, to leap, to embrace the unknown.
Everything is hard in some way, but you get to decide what you’re willing to hurt for, what you’re willing to try for, what you’re willing to work for.
You get to choose your hard.
But everything comes at a cost. When you say “yes” to one thing, you say “no” to another.
And that’s where the matter of your free will, your values, and your vision, must come into practice.
You have to decide what is going to matter to you, and what you are willing to fight for.
Then you have to decide to let go of the rest.’
Does this resonate with you, Subscriber First Name?
I’d love to hear which hard you’re currently choosing (you guys are always up to something amazing. AND misery loves company π«ΆπΌ).
And if you sense you’re choosing the incorrect hard, what new choice can you make today? Hit reply and let me know π
My co-working space recently had me as a guest on their podcast.
A highlight from the producer:
“Ever felt a pull to take a leap into the unknown? Alicia certainly did. Her inspiring journey of transformation provides us with a fresh perspective on embracing change and finding meaning in our lives.”
I pretty much bare my soul on this one!
