Power of Persistence

Let’s discuss the importance of persistence when it comes to achieving your goals.

Your goals are not just arbitrary targets but a reflection of your dreams, desires, and aspirations.

Before you keep reading…

PAUSE and write down one goal you’ve been working on OR want to start working towards.

Did you do that? OK - let’s go!

The road to realizing your dreams can be filled with twists and turns, but the one quality that will carry you through is persistence.

Here are some thoughts and strategies on how to stay persistent on your path to success:

  1. Clarity and Vision: Revisit your goals regularly and remind yourself why you set them in the first place. Revisit your vision and set goals FROM that vision. Keep the vision of your desired outcome clear in your mind to stay motivated.

ACTION: reflect on how your goal supports your bigger vision. Connect your goal to your higher purpose!

  2. Visualize Success: Regularly visualize yourself achieving your goals. This exercise helps reinforce your commitment and keeps you focused.

ACTION: Write your goal in PRESENT tense, as if you’ve already achieved it. Manifest it, baby!

  3. Break It Down: Big goals can feel overwhelming. Break them down into smaller, manageable steps. This approach will make the journey less daunting and help you focus on one step at a time.

ACTION: Now that you’ve visualized yourself achieving your goal, write down what you did right before that? And what did you solve right before that? And what did you learn right before that? Until you’ve walked yourself back to the now. Then go do that first step!

  4. Celebrate Progress: Don't wait until you've reached the finish line to celebrate. Acknowledge and celebrate any achievements along the way. Recognizing your progress will keep you motivated. You’ve seen that visual with the stick figure standing up against a huge all. And when you zoom out, you see him on a staircase, with each step representing the progress he’s already made.

ACTION: Identify an area within your goal you’ve already made progress and celebrate that! Write it down and put it somewhere visible for you to remember!

  5. Consistent Action: Consistency is key. Make your goals a part of your daily routine. This helps build momentum and keeps you on track.

ACTION: Look at your calendar this week and plan out how you can spend just 5 minutes per day working towards your goal.

  6. Positive Self-Talk: Replace negative self-talk with positive affirmations. Believing in yourself is fundamental to staying persistent.

ACTION: Identify the inner voice or limiting belief you have about achieving your goal and write down what you would say to your best friend, child, or partner who is having this same thought.

  7. Accountability: Share your goals with someone you trust, or better yet, work with an accountability partner. Knowing that someone is there to support and encourage you can make a significant difference.

ACTION: Write down at least 3 people that you can share your goal with.

Remember that the journey towards your goals is a marathon, not a sprint.

While there may be moments of doubt, frustration, and fatigue, it's your persistence that will carry you through.
