Living into a Vision

In 2020 I wrote a vision for my life, 10 years in the future. And while some specifics of that vision have shifted - location, setting, career - the feeling of ease and gratitude were the through lines through any vision I’ve ever set, both short and long term.
But in my 2020 vision, I wrote “As I look through the sliding door, I see Kris and the girls in the kitchen. The girls are sitting at the island and he is making them pancakes. They are coversing and laughing. He is lighter and more at ease than I’ve seen him in 20 years.”
This morning as I was sitting on the deck of our Airbnb in Costa Rica, I looked up from my laptop and saw this. I grabbed my phone just to capture the moment because although it was a simple and somewhat ordinary moment, the feeling I had was extraordinary. The recognition that we are living in the vision I had in 2020, for 2030, but in 2023, made my heart swell and brought tears to my eyes.
